Donald Trump and the runup to the 2024 election

Rich people dont pay as much with tariffs.

Not to mention, trump will almost certainly not pay the added security costs.

So Trump does not want anybody criticizing his judges.

I guess the First Amendment isn’t really all that important.

And Brett Favre will be campaigning with Trump. Will this tip any votes, or is it celebrity nonsense?

I don’t think anyone gives a shit what Favre thinks. Maybe he helps win the dick pic vote.

Trump is, of course, free to blast judges who rule against him. Anyone who criticizes judges he appointed, however, should go to jail. Make perfect sense!

Mostly the latter. It might help a tiny bit in Wisconsin, but at this point I don’t think campaigning has much of anything to do with changing minds, so much as it is convincing people to actually vote.

Trump must be seeing some bad polls. Now he is saying that polls are worthless. Quite the contrast to his constantly crowing that all the polls show him winning by a lot.

Probably his default state from the past two campaigns in which he was shown to be a lot further behind than he actually was. Ironically him saying that makes his supporters harder to poll leading to less accurate polls.

It’s not necessarily contradictory for him to say that. If Trump believes - rightly or wrongly - that his support is being underpolled by, say, 4%, then when he’s trailing, he can say, “Well, the polls have a bias against us,” and when he’s leading, he can crow, “Even despite the polls being biased against us, we have a lead, meaning our real lead must be even bigger.”

Any chance one of y’all have a spare gift link you’re not gonna use this month? At least based on the headline this sounds like it could be halfway interesting. Perhaps there’s some reason to believe his “electoral college advantage” might not be as significant as we think.

Thanks, bud. I suppose there’s some sort of electoral “science” to what the author was driving at, but it went over my head.

It’s another example where a few hundred people’s opinion is used as an excuse for an article extolling the suspense of this election. Yeah, we all knew that.

That article mostly talked about New York City. This article is more about the Electoral College, which I suspect is what your interested in (gift link):

I’m calling it right now - today is the day Donald Trump lost the election. And I feel secure in making that call because his Madison Square Garden rally is, without hyperbole, the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life.

Never have I ever seen such blatant, naked, mask-off racism, bigotry, and hatred on such a massive platform. You had speakers making jokes about black people and watermelon. You had people saying the only thing Latinos are good at is “making babies” because they “always come inside just like they’re doing to this country”. Puerto Rico, an island that is home to 3.2 million American citizens, a “floating pile of garbage”. Kamala Harris was called the Antichrist and everyone who votes for her was said to be “the enemy within” who need to be “slaughtered”. Multiple people said the country was better off when we were in a pandemic that was killing thousands of people every day. You had the world’s richest man pledge to destroy the social safety net, an anti-vaccine crank told to “go wild on health”, and ultimately an outright promise that if you aren’t straight, white, cis, and Christian that you’re going to wind up dead or in a concentration camp within the next four years. And all of this in service of a senile old buffoon who’s content to be a puppet for these sacks of shit as long as people clap for him and tell him how great he is.

They can’t deny this. It’s all there on video for the world to see and not even the pro-Trump media can sanewash this for them. The message is clear - under a Trump presidency, only “real Americans” will be treated as human beings in this country, and that is a status that they can and will revoke from anyone at any time. The American people have been shown the truth and in 9 days they will soundly reject it.

It didn’t change your vote.

This stuff just increases Trumpist turnout.

I would like to say Harris should use a portion of that $billion to flood the media with quotes/clips of his own words, interspersed with terse comments appealing to those directly targeted, and anyone with a sense of decency. They SHOULD be more effective winning her support than any other ads.

But he has no fear spewing this publicly and directly, so there is no guarantee spreading them further will not HELP him!

Crazy, ugly times these are!

There are 1.2 million Puerto Ricans living in Florida.

In 2020, Trump won the state by a margin of 371,000.

We’ll see about that.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this is at MSG. Trump may not be aware, but I believe that the Stephen Miller wing had a hand in this.

Seriously. It’s their Get Out The Vote effort.
