No. Obama has already done that.
Trump is currently worth about $2 billion. He learned from his past mistakes. It’s a shame our government can’t. Or won’t.

Yeah, we were in really good shape before Obama came in and fucked it all up. Do you tell your kids fairy tales too, or just us?
Who said anything about Obama fucking it up? The U.S. government has been indulging in irresponsible spending for decades.
Is that a trick question?
Maybe he has poor **Clothahump **on ignore..
Obviously Gibson and Schlesinger have been reading this thread.
Cite?
Frankly, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was worth only a quarter that.
Even if Trump were only half as wealthy as he says he is, he’d still richer than Diddy or Jay-Z, and I rarely hear anything about those two guys other than how brilliant they are.
How many millions did they start with?
Asides, success at being an entertainer is a measure of how well you entertain. Not fitness to lead.
The money Trump started with is miniscule compared to what he has now.
And both Diddy and Jay-Z are business executives and entrepreneurs in addition to being entertainers.
I promise to ridicule Diddy or Jay-Z’s run for President with equal or greater fervor to Donald Trump’s, should either come to pass.
Why does this impress you? The man started out in the top 1% and with every imaginable advantage and privilege, was able to remain there only by declaring bankruptcy. Twice.
And if there’s one person around here who has his finger on the pulse of hip hop culture, it’s got to be you.
Now see? Here you go again. You complain me and about what an asshole I’ve become around here based, so far as I can tell, on my opinion of and reaction to liberalism and to some of the board’s posters who typically are assholes to me first, and yet you persist in these personal little drive-by insults aimed at me specifically. How is it that what I do is worse?
With regard to Trump, Forbes estimated his worth at 2.9 billion five years ago. Given the state of the economy since then I wouldn’t be surprised if his wealth hadn’t dropped to somewhere in the range of 2 billion, which is the number commonly associated with wealth these days.
Still, I did misspeak in making the statement above. Trump could be worth only a fourth (i.e., 1/4) of what he says he is and he’d still be richer than Diddy or Jay-Z.
And a person doesn’t have to have his hand on the pulse of hip-hop culture (though I do own a little hip-hop music. Not a lot, admittedly, but some) to be able to read Billboard or Forbes articles on the wealth of these guys, or to read accounts of their accomplishments.
It impresses me for several reasons, most of which I’ve already described upthread. He took the seed money he got from his father and used it as a springboard to much greater accomplishment than his father ever attained and in a much tougher market. There are a lot of people who inherit 30 million dollars and ten years later they still have 30 million dollars. Others would have blown through it entirely on bad investments or through a combination of hookers, drugs and divorces resulting from ill-considered marriages.
If you will read the Wiki page on Trump you will see a fantastic record of accomplishment, and in a wide range of endeavor. His business efforts provide a very good living for thousands of people (around 15,000 to 20,000 employees the last I heard, plus additional jobs for the employees of the architects, engineers, banks and construction companies who benefit from the work they get from him). When you look at all that he has accomplished (and really, without looking at the list on the Wiki page I don’t think you have any idea just how much that is) and the number of people who have benefitted from it and continue to benefit from it, I think the good far outweighs the bad in terms of his bankruptcies.
So who multiplied their seed money by a larger factor, Trump or Diddy or Jay-Z?
Diddy / Jay-Z 2012!
Mere billionaires are not considered wealthy? In whose book?
Those worth $100 million aren’t wealthy? $10 million? $1 million?
While I’ll grant that being a millionaire ain’t what it used to be, I think most people would consider that people who have more money than 99% of the population are, in fact, wealthy, and you’re trying to stretch the definition of wealthy beyond the point of ludicrousness.
Yes, I insult you, specifically, based on things you, specifically, have done.
You insult millions of people based on things done by people with whom they have no personal connection other than a vague political philosophy shared by roughly one half of the citizens of this country.
That’s how it’s worse.
The answer to your question is obviously Diddy and Jay-Z. But so what? The point in bringing them up in the first place was to counter joebuck20’s implication that 500 million is chump change. Now, do you want to argue about whether it’s harder to deal with land purchases, planning and zoning commissions, architects, construction companies and the financing to make it all possible, or to sell records, clothing and booze to adolescents and twentysomethings?
It’s true that to accomplish what Diddy and Jay-Z have is not easy, but much of that is the luck of the draw. There are plenty of people with just as much if not more musical talent than they have who will never rise above obscurity. Their talent lies in being able to leverage the success they had in music - which was largely due to luck, a keen ear for what would be popular, and a strong work ethic - into lucrative spin-off enterprises that appeal to much the same demographic. I don’t think that in the final analysis there is much question that what Trump does is a great deal more complex, multi-faceted and difficult than what Diddy and Jay-Z do.
Now, having said that, I think it would be a lot more fun to be Diddy or Jay-Z, but that’s not what we’re talking about.
I typed that post in haste and inadvertently omitted a few words. For some reason ever since I got this laptop that has been a problem. What I meant to say is that 2 billion is the number commonly associated with Trump’s wealth these days.
You mean like a great many posters around here do with regard to conservatives? I don’t see you getting too hepped up about that.
It looks like right and wrong in your view just depends on who’s ox is getting gored.
