Donald Trump: positives?

He’ll have Melania redecorate the WH in Louis XIV style. You can never have too many gilded flourishes on any given light fixture!

He hasn’t been convicted of throwing kittens into a wood chipper. Yet.

No, no. He’s got people for that.

I’m trying to think of any actual positive. He’s very VERY good at branding. Perhaps he could use that knowledge to polish up the American brand, so to speak. Some folks are a little cranky with the US right now. Maybe Trump can help persuade the world that the US is as awesome as he is. Or something. It would be nice to see his power used for good instead of chaotic evil.

My coworker thinks that the Melania’s-speech-plagiarism kerfuffle could’ve been planned by Trump. After all, any media attention is positive for him, and any media attacks can be used to rile up his supporters. Etc.
it’s a possibility, I guess, but it seems likelier to me that it’s another sign of political incompetence now that the primaries are over.
Still, DJT has a pretty decent shot at the presidency compared to most of us, so even if he’s incompetent-but-lucky, that’s gotta be a plus, right?

He is able to transform various foodstuffs into A-1 fertilizer, utilizing only his personal digestive system.

Seriously, other than the tautologies, and a handful of negative positives – “Because of Trump, the Republican majority in the House and Senate will be slightly less than what they might have been had a true unifying candidate been nominated” – none. The guy is a loser, pure and simple. There is nothing to be admired in him other than that he absorbs neutrons and could be of benefit in containing the radioactive spill in Fukushima.

You couldn’t even make Soylent Green-- it would have to be Soylent Orange.

he may make things so bad that we might welcome our inevitable robot overlords! :frowning:

His wife’s speech writers exercise our sense of dejà vu.

That’s offensive to us non-Trump 70-year-olds.

This will make the ormolu manufacturers of America (all 3 of 'em) very happy.

I no longer waste time wondering if Republicans hate the Democrats enough to do anything to win.

I don’t think it’s just a matter of hating the Democrats. They hate modern America and everyone in it outside of their particular monkey group (and they hate most of them, too, but that’s just, you know … family).

Anything that damages modern America is a-ok with them, because only they, themselves, are REAL America. The rest of us are all outsiders. We’re not real. We don’t count.

Sorry. He looks like a walking advertisement for hypertension, and is under increasing levels of stress, which he doesn’t appear to be handling well.

Seriously, no ageism intended, just Trumpism.

Shake?

Oh - sorry. I forgot I was in the Donald J. Trump Positive Accomplishmnets Thread.

Uh … he’s given Gary Trudeau lots of material over the years.

He wants to restore Glass-Steagal, I support that.

He keeps lawyers in billable hours regularly.

He has divorced twice, married a third time, and doesn’t look broke.

He smirks like he means it; no cheesy deceptive Deborah Norville smirks for him.

He doubles down in the face of insurmountable odds and facts.

He gives hope to the hundreds of other short-fingered vulgarians in the world that they too can grow up to run for president.

He proves the old adage “If you’re so smart, why ain’t ya rich”, just not the way it was meant.

He doesn’t drink. (More for the rest of us! “His idiot son is about to speak… Social!”)

He LOVES to fire people publicly while he’s in the spotlight, and he’s now surrounded by both the spotlight and all the high ranking GOP. What’s Not To Like???

He has lived to 70 years (or whatever) old 100% of the time he has tried.

Thru his statesman like conduct and eloquently given speeches, he is able to remind us of everything we loathe in a human being, by personifying every single trait that we most detest.

He reminds me that I actually passed 9th grade civics, and he clearly is confused by the cartoon ‘I’m just a bill’ or any of the basic schoolhouse videos.

He reminds me that everything I took an oath to preserve when I joined the USAF, he stands against.

Questionable. If you took a survey of favorable / unfavorable opinions of famous brands then I’m pretty sure Trump would have been pretty low on the favorable list even before he ran for President. Brands like Apple, Google, Tesla come up extremely high on favorable ratings. That’s good branding. There are highly paid branding marketing managers who try to manage everything about a brands market perception, and they would regard Trump as a rank amateur.

Trump is very very good at publicity, eg getting attention, which is not the same thing as Branding.

I didn’t say that Trump’s branding was tied to favorable impressions, although the Republican nomination would seem to indicate that he’s impressing some people. Think about it though - who doesn’t know who he is now? It’s a small number. Virtually everyone in the world with access to the Internet knows what he looks like, sounds like, dresses like, how he acts, and what his wife looks like. That’s branding. Would he be in this position if he hadn’t had The Apprentice tv shows? He built a brand - his public persona - of being a straight shooter with no tolerance for bullshit. That persona is what people are buying into. They want someone to save them from everything that is Wrong with America.

I think he’s a raving lunatic with a spray on tan and acrylic hair, but I have to give him props for how well he has marketed himself.
