Don't ask don't tell repealed.

I’m surprised there doesn’t appear to be a thread already.

"Eight Republicans and independent Joe Lieberman of Connecticut joined the chamber’s Democrats to back the legislation, which passed around 3 p.m. by a 65-31 margin. "

There are a couple of ongoing threads with commentary about today’s vote:

Don’t forget the Liberals Hate Gaysthread. Go to the last few posts…

I have some questions. They’ve repealed this law, but that doesn’t yet allow gays to enter into the military, correct? Doesn’t a simple repeal mean that, for the moment at least, the rules go back to before DADT, when the military COULD ask, and then thow gays out?

What else has to happen? Is it a matter of Obama issuing an order as Commander in Chief? Does the military have to rewrite a shitload of regulations? God forbid, does Congress have to now pass something else to actually let gays serve?

I had the same question. Simplicio answered:

EDIT: MEBuckner posted the relevant sections of the USMJ after that post.
