DON'T Stump the Guy with Average Knowledge, Part II

GAH! May as well hazard an embarrassing, uneducated WAG: Was it Napoleon?

Since I obviously got this wrong, you would subtract your difficulty rating from your current score, then put the tally at the bottom of your next post. You are at negative 2, Sorry!

River? gulp

Name a song from Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti album

Difficulty 2

  1. Cubs. Yankees. Sox. Hrmm, hope at least one was right

  2. I don’t like it as much as you do. Sorry.

  3. WOW! Opera, that’s a new one. Beats me.

Hmmm… a tad before my time, but I do like Zepp. I’ll go with California, since it’s my favorite.

Does that mean I got my math wrong. The radius of 9", would be 4.5… and I squared that giving me… 9*3.14

mama!

So, did I not figure that right?

OH, wait… I’m doing that wrong…

it should be 3.144.54.5

That gives me ~63.5" square.

I’ll still take the 8x8.

Why is the logo for Sirius Sattelite Radio a dog? (3 points)

Oooh, so close! 1984 was LA, not New York! And the '06 games were in Greece, but the city was Athens.

It’s kind of weird that you remembered '06. It wasn’t in a normal Olympics.

Because of the constellation Canus Major (Canus = Dog) containing the star Sirius, for which the company took its name.

  1. Cubs… no. Yankees, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals. I’ll only count Sox as one, even though a “Sox” team has won twice.
  2. Huh? (Souter, Roberts, Thomas, Ginsburg, Scalia, Kennedy, Breyer, Stevens, Alito).
  3. Heh. Took a shot.

So I guess that’s +2, -5 for a total of -3.

By the way, do you have a rule for these sorts of “x-points per right answer” type questions? It’s hard to figure out exactly how to score them. Or should we just not ask them?

Athens was '04. The '06 games (winter) were in Torino (Turin).

Who was the fattest U.S. President?

Difficulty 2

Maybe just give yourself 1 point for each one I got right. S’gotta count for something!

I wasn’t thinking, I should’ve put Athens (I really did know that), I only remembered that year/local since I thought it cool that the games be hosted by the country of their original inception.

Spirit and Opportunity, when capitalized and treated as a collective group refers to what? (I’m going to call this a three pointer)

It was Athens in 1906, not 2006.

Although, upon reflection, I suppose **cmyk ** meant the latter … .

(Difficulty 2)

Match the philosopher with the philosophy. In no particular order:

Descartes
Kant
Nietzsche

Existence is not a predicate
God is dead
I think; therefore, I am

Huh, never heard of a 1906 Olympics. Even an “unofficial one”. Interesting.

It does make it complicated, and more risky for the players. I’d try to itemize the questions as much as possible. Or quantize it in such a way where if you say name 4 of the blankity-blanks, and I only name 3, it counts as 3 points.

The best and easiest way is to just have one possible answer to one question, and leave it at that.

(yeh, shit. I did mean the latter… sorry! I thought it was a winter game.)

Teddy?
