Don't you just love "Joanne" by Michael Nesmith?

It’s funny how some of the best things are done with a light attitude.

I remember the HUGE controversy that happened when it was learned that the Monkeys supposedly didn’t know how to play their instruments. And yet look at the utter horsecrap that passes for music these days … .

Nitpick: It was Liquid Paper she invented.

Yeah, “Joanne” is a helluva song.

When I was younger and very obsessed with the Monkees, I had this Mike Nesmith album on tape and listened to it a ton.

It’s got him doing “Different Drum”…if you haven’t heard his version, it’s worth it! (plus, “Joanne” and “Some Of Shelly’s Blues” are on there too)

Much to my surprise, Netflix has it.

I believe the patent finally expired a few years ago.

I can’t listen to this song without flashing back to Godzilla’s rampage through Tokyo.

His “What Am I Doing Hangin’ Round”, on Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones, Ltd is an absolute corker.

I must say that this song has the greatest disparity between the verse, which sounds like a parody of horrible country music, and the bridge, which is just marvelous in terms of music and lyric.

So what are you saying? Is it a good song or a lousy song? :dubious:

Agreed. I had to turn it off after I heard the verse a few times. Very annoying.

Methinks you found a cloud in a silver lining. :dubious:

 Wow, someone actually read my profile!
