Doper Jeopardy Challenge

I’ve noticed we seem to like to compare our scores on various online trivia games. So I was thinking we could compare our Jeopardy scores, too!

I’m keeping track of my score as suggested on some fansite or another. I give myself credit for any right answers, subtract for any wrong, and leave the ones I can’t answer alone. Daily Doubles are just scored at face value, no wagering.

Tonight I did really well, $26,000!

I didn’t calculate a wager amount for the final, but I did get it right.

I’m really curious how that compares with other at-home players. Is anybody else keeping score?

A few of us don’t have to wonder how we’d do.

Jah, I know dis – that’s why, when I was wondering if the fansite’s designation for a “good” score (around $24k at current question values, using the scoring method described above) is accurate, I asked Dopers.

Just thought it might be an interesting game.
Lots of people posted their “Global IQ” (mine was 50%).

You must be referring to the Coryat score. One clarification: daily doubles can earn you points for a correct response but you don’t lose points for an incorrect one. Final Jeopardy doesn’t count at all toward the Coryat score.

I started keeping track of my Coryat scores sometime last year, gave it up and started again last month. My recent scores have ranged from 21,000 to 36,800 with a 17-game average of about 29,100.

Coryat himself says his average was $36,000 adjusted for modern clue values. And yet he was only a two-time champion. I won’t bother trying out for the show until my average is at least that high.
