Doper organization freaks - how do you store your earbud headphones?

So I have three or four pairs of earbud or over-the-ear headphones that I use regularly - one for my smartphone, one for my iPod, and one that I usually grab when I go to work out. As you can imagine they get tangled, misplaced, etc. all of the time. Is there a storage solution that you’ve used that keeps them in place?

I don’t have these, but I really want them. I’ve seen them on eBay, too, by the way.

Mine are Sonys, and they came in a little clamshell case with a reel inside. The hub has niches for the earbuds, and you just spin the reel until the wire is coiled up. Pretty slick.

When I’m at home, my buds stay on my desk while the iPod is cradled. When I’m out and about and I have my little backpack with me I store them (and the iPod) in the smaller outer zipper compartment. If I don’t have my iPod, then it’s my jacket/coat pocket. During the summer – well, I haven’t been using buds long enough to go out during the summer by myself with my iPod. However, these are the standard Apple buds which suck so I don’t really care how they’re treated. I’ll be getting some Shure buds next week though and they’ll be stored in their own case.

I keep my MP3 player and earphones in a little wooden box.

Mine are just coiled up in the same purse compartment as my iPod. Which of course means I must untangle them whenever I’m ready to use the gadget. What’s with that anyway? They go in neatly coiled, and come out looking like an earthworm orgy???

I’ve had the phones before that come with the winding case. Nice, though the plug bit can dangle out of it and get caught and make the whole thing unwind partially. That’d work for me though since I would just have it in a purse compartment most of the time.

Thisproduct looks kind of interesting, actually. I may get one of these.

Maybe put them in a round Altoid Sours tin.

I wrap mine after each use in your standard electrical-cord fold-over-fold kinda way.

Then I tie that up with a small vinyl coated twist tie. Not the wire and paper ones you get with garbage bags though, the good vinyl covered ones that come on new electronic components.

Mama Zappa, I like those earbuddys, but they are kind of pricey!
