Dopers are such nice people (Thank you, purrplebear!)

A couple days ago, I posted on here asking if anyone wanted to sponsor me. I wasn’t sure if anyone would respond since I’m not a very well known poster (at least, not yet). To my surprise, several people made offers to sponsor me - including purrplebear, who did in fact sponsor my membership here.
I remember seeing purrplebear posting on this site even while I was still a lurker and she seemed like a nice person. However, it is still amazing that someone would be kind enough to do this favor for me without really knowing me.
So, I would like to express my appreciation to purrplebear for keeping me on this great board! What a kind gesture!
In general, I’d just like to say that there are some really cool people on this site. It was very heart-warming for me to see that people actually cared about helping me stay on this board. This is a unique and wonderful place. I’m very glad I will still be able to post here.

I’d like to add a big cheer for all the other dopers who sponcered people or helped them subscibed.

Boy, you purple people sure do stick together!

BLUSH

slips in quietly You’re quite welcome, milady. I was happy to be able to do it for you.

attempts a gentle curtsey, only to overbalance and all but fall flat on her… er… face… yeah, that’s it, face… embarrassed giggle-like sound

emulating her cats’ best “I meant to do that” look, she straightens up, and with as much dignity as she can manage, leaves quietly before any other mishaps occur

purrplebear is a very nice person. She didn’t even object when I stuck those trees in the ground upside down.

You wouldn’t really be EddyTeddyFreddy in disguise, would you?

(I think I recognize a certain familiarity and rythm to the humor in this post, not to mention the tiny-font sig messages. And she has cats.)

Busted???

If not, believe me, the comparison is a compliment.

Uh, sorry…make that “rhythm.”

Purrplebear has been around a lot longer than EddyTeddyFreddy.

Yes, Scarlett, we do, I suppose.

Why thank you, Ogre, my dear. No, I didn’t, did I; even though that wasn’t a very nice thing to do to those poor trees. And I do love your hugs, original as they are. No matter how long it takes my ribs to recover afterwards.

I took it as a compliment, Starving Artist; I quite like EddyTeddyFreddy. But, no, I am not her. I am only myself. We are both female as far as I know; both have cats (I have only 2, sadly). I also have a dog (daughter’s actually), and more stuffed critters than the law probably allows, predominately purple teddy bears, natch’. As for purring, I don’t know ETF well enough to know if she purrs or not, so I can’t say if we are similar in that regard as well.

Hi, Abby! Yes, I do believe I have been a member here a bit longer than ETF has been. Though I’m not sure what that has to do with anything, other than to point out that I am not her.

I’ve always liked Purplebear. She’s a beautiful spirit.

Dopers ARE such nice people. Well, the vast majority of them, anyway. You guys make me laugh, make me mad, make me batty, take up way too much of my time. Lately I’ve been looking at old threads, and it’s been quite humorous and interesting. There seems to be a nice cross-section of people here, with every conceivable experience, knowledge, opinion, and sense of humor.
Some very generous and kind people here- just wanted to say that.

Thank you, Libertarian. That is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said about me. I imagine you can see the red glow from where you are, that I am sure must be radiating from my face. You are one of the dopers I most admire on here, and try to read your posts whenever I can.

Indeed, I wholeheartedly agree, trublmakr. It is an honor to be considered one of the good guys on this message board, in such august company. (And ribald, and thought-provoking, and downright goofy, and …)

And she and her family are wonderful dinner conversationalists.

The rescued me from loneliness and boredom on a business trip once.

You are too kind, JC. We were happy to do it. It was a great evening, and we all enjoyed your company. Any time you are out this way again, just holler, and we would be honored to play host again.

That reminds me, I never did get those pics to you. If you would email me with your snail mail addy, I can get some copies sent your way, if you would like. I would post them here somewhere, or on the web, but am regrettably computer challenged in many areas. Having a pc that seems to be in its death throes isn’t helping either, no doubt. And our scanner died a couple of months ago, or I’d scan them and email them to you. Oh, well. At least we should be able to replace the scanner relatively soon.

I’d love to see them. But that email in your profile bounced on me. Drop me a line and we’ll get things moving.
