No bet. Even if she thinks you’re an idiot, I think she’ll appreciate the gesture. It shows you’ve taken her dislike of the current house quite seriously, and are ready to do something about it as soon as she is, even if that doesn’t turn out to be right now.
I think you’ve included her in the search at just the right time. You’ve already done the spadework, though knowing her, she’ll probably want to browse the listings herself just to make sure there isn’t anything better out there, assuming she’s ready to move on this.
I have fond memories of your old house up there in the mountains. You’re right, that should have answered my question!
You can probably get a ballpark figure from a local contractor on how much they charge per linear foot of a given type of fence, just by calling them up. Might want to do that today or tomorrow, then if you get an idea of where you might want to put an enclosure for the dogs, you can mentally add that to the price.
She chose it, not me. She liked Academy but thought it needed too much work and the land would be too much of a headache. And she loved the backyard at Carson Ct.
I could have sworn she would have gone the other way. Still a half-acre lot is nothing to sneer at, I suppose.
The important thing is that she didn’t kill me. I didn’t tell her where we were going (with both kids) when we headed out. Even when we go to the first one she didn’t get it until I introduced her to the agent and told her to look around. Now she likes the idea. Whew!
Now all I need to do is put an offer together and sell one of the two houses we own now! Nothing big.
Thanks. It didn’t actually seem like a lot of hard work. Just sort of sneaky. But I have a lot more free time than she does and largely set my own schedule so being sneaky wasn’t very hard.
She did tell me she thought I had arranged a boat ride or something when she found out. So I like the surprise factor.
Now to make the offer. Contingent on selling one of our houses. And 10k below asking. If they won’t budge on price I’ll ask them to complete some fencing/decking that could use some upgrades.
Signed the offer paperwork today. I expect they’ll counter.
The owner of Academy has been calling our agent at least twice a day about us. I told the agent to tell him we were leaning toward another home but to put together his best and final and we’d consider it.
