Dopers flooded out!

What the hell is thiss**t?!! I live in the middle of the desert and finally when a record drought breaks my apartment floods.

Don’t send a boat, the water isn’t that deep but it looks like every first floor unit in my complex got soaked carpet at the least though I have seen a few inches in some apartments. I haven’t talked to Mauvaise but I’m sure she and her kitties have damp toes.

The complex isn’t on low ground but the first floor units are a a couple of feet below grade. The interior of the complex is completely bounded and can only be drained by Phoenix’s overloaded storm drain system. I was at fiancee TheLadyLion’s place all weekend and got back to find the sad state of affairs. Fortunately only about half the front carpet and batrhoom rugs are soaked here. Kitchen and bedroom are dry as a bone.

How will you dry them out? If you are going to go the commercial route call first thing in the morning, you won’t be the only one needing help! Or will you do it on your own?

Won’t know until monday. I didn’t get it so bad but there are apartments in serious bad shape with standing water. I can work around the bad carpet but some folks have floodwater all the way back to the bedrooms. They are going to be days cleaning this up. I may get my own shop vac in the AM and extract some water.

Unfortunately, these monsoon storms usually don’t do much to help drought conditions. I’d be surprised if it added much, if anything, to our reservoirs. Sorry to hear about your apartment (that was one heck of a storm, wasn’t it?).
