I have a small storage room off of the garage (shared by other condo owners so I can’t expand or anything).
I want to turn it into a little workshop. It’s grey cinderblock. UGH!
Okay, let your imaginations run wild. Color is no object (except brown, I HATE HATE HATE brown).
I’m thinking something bright, but I’ve been to the paint section of the hardware store many times, and I can’t make up my mind. Tell me your wildest, brightest ideas!
When I turned a two car garage into a cat suite, I went with a bright yellow. There are really nice murals you can find in the wallpaper department of Lowes, etc. but I’m not sure how you would have to prep cinder block to put them up.
Go with pale blue walls and green baseboards. Using a large sponge cut into a semicircle, use white acrylic or latex paint to add clouds along the ceiling.
Add a tree. From there, these sorts of paintings often take on a life of their own.
Whatever else you do, you should get hold of somebody’s little kid and put paint on his feet, then have him “walk” up and down the walls and across the ceiling, in multiple colors.
OOOh, I love all of these. Are you SURE I can’t talk a doper into hanging around on my workroom walls for a few days?
My son is coming up to visit for a week from “the Kenai”. I saw some mismatched paint in cool colors and cheap prices at Ace the other day. Maybe I’ll give him a roller and tell him to have fun! Or, I also love the “find local teens” idea.
I love the green on the bottom blue on top Idea too. I thought of that, but wasn’t sure how to get going on the idea.
Okay…I’m of the opinion that the purpose should reflect the decorating choices. Since it is a workroom, and since it is small, I’m thinking you’ll want to reflect light. So I’m going to say ICE CREAM COLORS (I’m leaning toward peach sherbet).
I was once at a party where the guy had a camera on a tripod, and he painted the shadow of the tripod onto the wall (in electric green). Did this with a couple other objects. I’m fully aware that a couple hits of acid may have colored my opinion of this, but as I remember it, it was faaaabulous, dahling.
That’s funny! The orange-y peach sherbet-y color was the one I was most attracted too when I was browsing.
I was kind of thinking of doing negative images of tools too? Like one had been held against the wall and spray painted?
I know I do want it to be pretty bright, since it’s in a small and dark area. No windows. But I’m afraid if I go too bright it’ll be like trying to work inside of a rubik’s cube or something!
