Now that I’ve seen all eight nominees, I stand by my early prediction of The Revenant winning Best Picture.

The Big Short will win.

[Equipoise]

The PGA has preferential voting, like the Oscars (for Best Picture only. All the other categories have majority rules voting). That favors The Big Short but I still wouldn’t be surprised if Spotlight or The Revenant won.

I haven’t voted because I really don’t know. And because I liked ALL the nominees, I’ll be happy with whatever wins. I am rooting most for The Big Short though.

Well. The Producers Guild of America just threw a complication into it by picking THE BIG SHORT for best picture.

ETA: I should add, the PGA best picture last failed to match the Academy’s in 2006. Prediction-wise it’s a big deal.

We failed as a group. And the PGA streak has ended.
