Double standards at college: Will these fucktards do any frigging work?!?!?!??

I 've got frank grimes syndrome, I 'm a hard worker getting my coursework done, punctual, good listener generally the teachers pet, I know that every class has it’s clowns, but this takes the cake, there lazy pathetic buffoons!
These 6 people are regulary late for classes, even when they know that they can get kicked out for being tardy, don’t keep up with coursework and don’t even have supplies to write stuff off the board that they want to learn…regulary ‘stoned’ they piss me off by acting slow and dimwitted…and forever saying ‘errrrrrrrr’
The beauty of these double standards is that they are able to get away with murder, and when I was late I got a bollocking and was threatened with expulsion…They rant and rave at me to keep on target, but if those 6 dimwits get off track all they get is a slap on the wrists.
Just last week, one guy walked out of the class and said he was going to the bathroom, and didn’t return for 30 minutes…there have been numerous walkouts and dissapearances…maybe I should do this, I mean if noone cares why shouldn’t I abuse the system?

Eh, cut him some slack, maybe he dropped his doobie in the toilet and had to roll a whole new one.

Honey
Who realizes that using the word doobie shows her true age.

ryan-liam you will no doubt learn a valuable lesson come exam time.

some of these guys will do really well.

i’m not joking.
some people do not need to write notes, some people do not need to come to classes, and some people will hand in wonderful assignments, even if they were written the night before.

it sucks, but it’s life.

Well, thanx for the reassurance of ‘oh they’ll get there comuppance eventually’

the fact is that there is a chance they won’t “get their commupance”.

How about you get on with learning?

And you were threatened with being expelled for being late once?

Ok, yes I was threatened, but then I cleaned up my act, yet they still get away with it…I do get on with learning but it doesn’t mean I’m totally oblivious to what is happening around me.

You should get involved with the local Communist grouping on campus, and lead a demonstration against the unfairness of the system.

What’s that standard motherly thing we’ve all heard “If everyone else jumped off a bridge…”

The thing about college is, you’re there for what you want. No one else matters. So you can grumble about the others, or you can focus on what’s important to you. OK, I’m getting outta the Mom-mode now.

Wow…if I could get expelled for being late for class…I would NEVER have made it through this semester! I don’t think I made it on time to a single Thermo lecture, at 8:30am. I commute, and no matter what I did, I always got there 5-10 minutes late. My prof didn’t mind, though - its one of those classes where the prof is actually surprised to see ANYONE show up at all. Most of the semester, you’d think it was a class of about 15-20 people. Turns out we’re 45!

Talk to the professor after class and address these concerns. Tell him how you feel about being treated and convince him that you’re unfairly being treated to too high a standard. Tell him it’s unreasonable to threaten someone with expulsion for one tardy and see what he says.

As for this:

Life fucking sucks. Bring a straw.

Maybe he’s harder on you, because you have a future and they don’t. Of course it never works out that way, but still…

My suggestion is be nice to the stoners, they will probably be your bosses one day.

By any chance are any of these guys named Bush?

I thought Bushes were cokeheads.

If you really were threatened with expulsion because of one tardy, then be upset about that. But what other students do or don’t do is really no concern of yours.
I’ll admit it–I was one of those kids in college. I regularly skipped classes, depending on the course I took few if any notes, I often left classes early if they were going nowhere, I rarely participated in class discussions, etc. etc. One thing I didn’t do was show up butthole late–that’s disruptive and just plain rude, IMO. If I couldn’t make it on time, chances were I was staying home smoking a doob and watching The Price is Right. But those were all my choices. I paid my tuition–not my classmates. How I approached my college education was very, very much Not Their Business[sup]TM[/sup].
Do yourself a favor and focus on your own experiences and let others do the same. Everyone has different priorities, 'tis the way of life, and it’s hardly worth getting your panties in a bunch over something you have no control over. Actually, upon re-reading your OP, I can’t even tell if you’re talking about University or High School. Either way, my opinion stands.

Duh! I guess the thread title’s pretty clear. Disregard my last sentence, if you please. :o

Well, heh. I sure am glad my professors don’t care about tardiness. I’m always on time for my afternoon and evening classes, but I just happen to move extremely slowly in the morning. I’m usually at least a couple minutes late for my morning classes.

Yeah, well, whatever. Nobody’s perfect.

And don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. Just concentrate on getting a good education.

Man, am I thankful I can sleep through whatever lecture I want.
You really need to lighten up on those other guys. It’s easy to lose track of time when you’re baked. What the fuck is your problem?

Hey asshole I just wanted to let off some steam in the pit ok?

Geez…

Or go back to the box you live in.

I’m not sure I see the double standard. You were threatened with expulson because of tardiness. They have not been expelled because of tardiness. You have no way of knowing if you would have really been expelled because of your tardiness, or if they have been threatened with expulsion but haven’t been because the threat was empty in both cases.

Not a problem. Your opinion now sits.
