Yes, the Tea Partiers considered him a TPINO. Im just glad i dont have to look at that pompous little twit’s snotty face anymore.
We haven’t gotten the **adaher **spin on it yet. Oooh, this should be good…
How does any Republican expect to win the presidency ever again without this issue? Jeb Bush might have primary problems over immigration but no republican can win without it.
Agreed. But, I think Bush was planning on winning the primary despite this issue, and then winning the general with this issue, and this sure seems to imply that’s an impossible needle to thread.
It might not even be an issue in 2016, a nothing to lose Cantor can only help immigration reform’s prospects.
Well, the guy’s a professor of economics, and it certainly shows that the Tea party still has some clout.
Brat won with only $40,000 compared to Cantor’s $2 million.
Amazing, that’s all I can say. I didn’t have anything against Cantor. I certainly wasn’t rooting for his defeat. But it’s still cool to see someone come out of nowhere to beat an entrenched incumbent.
In your opinion, does this bode well for Republicans in November?
Big warning to Republicans on immigration.
Holy shit
No, we said that most Tea Partiers look like they are dead. Or close to it.
I’m not so sure having a TP candidate represent my state is a good thing. Much as I dislike Cantor-this other guy will likely win the election and then where will we be?
Sweet! I never liked that guy.
Yup.
A great day.
Don’t know. So far, the only places Tea Party candidates are winning are in places where Republicans are almost certain to win anyway.
The real important thing for Republicans is… There’s a leadership opening!
Farther away from the joke called amnesty.
Immigration with a path to citizenship is pretty much a done deal, the Republican party knows it will die without it.
I think that’s true, but only with vastly improved enforcement and a very tough path to citizenship as part of the deal. The Senate bill only offers the illusion of enforcement.
I think the enforcement will come first, then the amnesty, and then the path to citizenship. Three seperate bills.
Can’t link to it now, but it seems Cantor’s internal polling had him up by something like 34 points. That would lead me to believe this was Democrats crossing over to screw with the election.
I could be wrong, but if I’m not, that would mean the results mean very little in regard to the immigration issue. It also pretty much hands a seat to a Teapublican.
Oh they’ve been eating their own for years now. Pretty soon it’ll be “GOP, party of one!”
The word ‘RINO’ has been flying fast and furious for the past five years or so.
Damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. If Republicans move further away from immigration reform, Texas will turn blue, and then it is lights out.
