Is Downs syndrome rare in the Hispanic population?

You know, now that I think about it… the only people with Down’s Syndrome I’ve ever seen are white/caucasian. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘minority’ with Down’s Syndrome.

Encyclopedia Americana says

Down’s syndrome occurs in all races and in all economic and social roups.

Textbook of Human Genetics by Max Levitan says

Down syndrome occurs in all population groups that have been studied. (Indeed a very similar syndrome has been found in champanzees trisomic for a very small chromosome presumably homologous to number 21 of man.)

They don’t say so, but I suspect the rate is about the same in all races.
