Thanks, Asimovian!
I just saw your invitatioin and will take you up on it.
Google says…
**"When you fill out the following form, your Gmail username will be added to your Google account.
After you complete this process, your Gmail address becomes your new default email address. As a result, the next time you log into your Google Answers, Groups, Web API, or translation account, you must use your new @gmail.com address instead.
If you want to use the Gmail service as part of a separate Google Account, click here . (Note: you can only be logged into one Google Account at a time)"**
I know this will show how stupid I am, but…
If I sign up for the standard package (1st 2 paragraphs, above, I can’t use my other emails accounts at all?
If you’ll excuse my butting in late to the thread, yes, you can. The thing is that you cannot be logged into two GOOGLE mail accounts at the SAME time, though you can have a ton of them if you want. But you can have Yahoo or whatever open.
Just to test, I have just logged into my pretty-much-abandoned yahoo mail acccount, so right now I have have my Gmail open and the Yahoo one.
No problem.
Similarly for hotmail.
It’s not stupid, though - it makes sense for you to mention any perceived potential problems before wandering straight into the.
(And if anyone else would like a shiny new Gmail account …
)
Oh, and how very silly of me not to have looked at my Yahoo mail for a long time, as it appears that I won 2 million US Dollars. However, sadly my days of wealth are now behind me as I failed to obey, before 10th January, the bit about “…So you are
to
expedite action, Failure to do this shall be compelled to lose his/her
fund
in other words, we shall divert your fund to somewhere else…”
Oh well. My fund has been diverted. Tres painful. Poor yesterday, and poor today. Perhaps there will be jam tomorrow.
Might as well ask here, I always wondered where the invite box for Gmail was. Thanks to this thread, I finally notice the invite box on the older accounts I have. :smack:
It is correct to assume that the number of invites depends on how long and how full you have your inbox?
In a couple of recent accounts I made, I see 20 to 15 invites, but in the old one, I have 100 new shiny invitations!
I’d loves me a shiny new Gmail account!
Here area few Gmail invites, everyone feel free to use them. (Each link is only good for one account, but I can post more when they’re used.)

If anyone else wants to give away invites, all you have to do is send an invite to yourself and then copy-and-paste the link.
Thanks scr4,
here’s some from me.

Apparently, it leads to SDMB threads that convert people to Gmail instead.
haha, like a fool I just posted one to Crowmanyclouds.
I think it’s a very clever marketing ploy on Gmail’s part. One feels sad for all those little unused invitations jsut sitting in their small box in the corner like homeless rescued kittens.
As for conversion, there’s an idea. I hope I don’t get a habit of wandering around knocking people’s doors on Sunday mornings inviting them to hear my wise suggestions.
I had not thought of the trick of copying and pasting an inviation though. Good one!
Thanks anyway
Wow, it is all bright and shiny
