Or maybe…if a signifigant number of mutants were killed in the towers, Magneto might take it as yet another sign that Humans were getting innocent mutants killed in the “petty squabbles” of Homo Sapiens.
He might even start a series of raids into nations harboring Al-Qaeda, and indiscrimately slaughter great swaths of the local population, in the hopes of keeping mutants from being caught in the “crossfire” from human terrorists in the future.
I could see Kingpin being effected by 9-11. He is the kingpin, he views New York as his city. For Al-Qaeda to destroy a part of it would be a personal affront to him.

Kinda hypocritical of him to be upset by 9/11. IIRC, he caused the WTC to collapse in Xforce issue 3 or 4.
Maybe that’s why Juggernaut was crying. Somebody knocked down the World Trade Center towers, and it wasn’t him! I know I’d be upset if I got upstaged like that.
