The superman of The Watchmen…who apparently created the DC universe… vs the inexplicably triumphant pied piper of the Marvel universe.
Which would win?
Remember that Manhattan is a bit of a determinist and will only do something if he “remembers” doing it, and only in the manner he remembers doing it.
Squirrel Girls wins offpanel, as usual. Dr. Manhattan knows it happened but doesn’t care. It’s not like his defeat means anything, anyways.
Defeat is a concept that only has meaning for those trapped in linear time. Doreen’s actions will appear to thwart Jon`s plans but that is exactly as he knew it was going to occur.
Close.
I’d say it’s more likely that Doreen talks him around - he knows it’s going to happen but can’t prevent it, of course - and all is well at the end.
Recall, she defeats villains off camera. However, she can also find solutions that make them happy and require no defeating just by being positive and helpful. She’s just that way.
Squirrel Girl wins, and easily. Remember, a good chunk of her power is her Silver-Agey Optimism and Spirit. The only character I could imagine her having a hard time defeating is Mort Weisinger’s E1 Superman because he has the same Silver-Agey Optimism and Spirit.
SG. Her optimism convinces Doc that all is not preordained and there can be happy endings. He runs off to contemplate his cosmic naval lint.
Her whole schtick is that the narrative is funnier when she wins, so there are three ways for her to lose:
Against someone she logically should win against. Blatantly incompetent newbie villain wannabe trying to make a name whom she takes pity on, for example.
Against someone who ironically has the moral high ground over her, e.g. a collector from Damage Inc looking for restitution for some collateral damage she caused.
The ‘Sue Dibny’: when a hack writer wants to make someone seem extra special evil and decides to off the nicest character available. SG is probably too popular for this at the moment, but it could happen if her spotlight fades and she is just fondly remembered but hasn’t appeared in any books in a while.
Doctor M could only work in the third scenario, and SG is currently way too popular for that.
Anybody got a primer to bring me up to speed on who the hell Squirrel Girl is, and whether she’s likely to show up as a big head character in Disneyland any time soon?
Marvel announce New Warriors TV series with Squirrel Girl coming to Freeform
Yep. She’s coming to the MCU, albeit the TV branch.
