Dr. Suess

Years ago, right after Dr. Suess dies, a teacher of mine had a drawing on her wall (like a cartoon) and on it was a poem that said something like “where are you dr suess? can you come out and play” or something. It was a very touching tribute and I have been looking for it ever since. I cannot even remember which teacher I had or I would just go back and find her. Please please help if you can. Thank you

I am really NOT saying this in any nasty way - but I must remark that it is spelled SEUSS, as it might help you.

Best of luck, and welcome to the SDMB.

Just because I’m too lazy to look it up, did the good doctor use the German pronunciation “soyss”?

Apparently it was pronounced “soos.” That’s the way I’ve always heard it, and he was a prominent-enough figure to set the record straight.

It was his middle name, IIRC. Theodore Seuss Giesel. He also wrote other children’s books under the name “Theo LeSieg”; Giesel rearranged.
