Draft Dodging Politicians: Fact Or UL?

Did BJ Clinton break the law by not going to fight for democracy in Vietnam? I’ve looked searched and searched and looked for any evidence the he broke the law and was ever charged with evading the draft, yet a common criticism is that he’s a draft dodger, implying he broke the law.

Is accepting a Rhodes scholarship morally/legally worse than having people in high places get you in the national guard a la Dan Quayle and George W Bush? In fairness the Bush, the lotterygate testimony won’t continue until next week.

Hey, I’m not trying to take sides here. In my book, anybody smart enough to get out of going to that kind of war is OK by me.

No, Bill Clinton did not break the law. Draft dodging is not illegal. Draft evasion is.
I assume (and you know what that means!) that calling bill a draft dodger is a pejorative that implies his dishonor, lack of integrity, etc. If he really opposed the war, he would not have found an easy, cushy out–he would have been a conscientious objector. Or the other version would be that were he a good American he would have been willing to fight for his country’s war.
Please do not flame me and think that I am putting down anyone for their actions in regard to the Vietnam war. I would have evaded the draft myself by going to school, joining the guard, etc., but probably wouldn’t have gone to Canada. But, luckily, I wasn’t faced with that decision.

Clinton was a coward I don’t think he broke the law.

Please tell me that there was a spam post in there that got deleted and you didn’t resurrect a 13 year old thread just to post that.

It’s been thirteen years, how is this relevant?

Bush’s recession that Obama found in his lap was all Clinton’s fault.

I think I’ve told you this already, but you are giving the staff a lot of hints that you’re trolling. Reviving a 13-year-old thread to write a one-line comment about a guy who left office 11 years ago is another hint. It’s lazy trolling, but it looks like trolling. Don’t do this again. I’m locking this thread. If anyone wants to start a serious discussion, they can open a new one.
