Drag Me to Hell

I just saw this yesterday, and while I liked it overall, the ending left me feeling unsatisfied.

Probably because I found the protagonist to be very sympathetic. Also the button switch was way too predictable. I think an entirely happy ending would have been unsatisfying as well, though. Not really sure what kind of ending I wanted. :smack:

I just saw this yesterday with a similar audience and I totally agree. It was a blast–the most fun I’ve had in a theater in a long while, and I usually don’t like that kind of ‘audience participation’ at a regular movie. But at this one we were all cringing and screaming and laughing and talking together.
(by the way, another fun movie I saw recently that benefits from audience reaction is The Hangover)
My Favorite Things in the movie:

Alison Lohman - damn she’s cute

Christine’s fight in the car with the gypsy woman–especially when she’s defending herself with the stapler!

When Christine learns she might protect herself with an animal sacrifice–cut to the cute little kitty. (audience groans and laughs in disbelief)

The goat! Biggest laugh of the movie.

Alison Lohman covered in mud - hot damn!

The ending - yeah, I wasn’t fooled by the envelope switch, but I wasn’t convinced that it would end on the note it did–until it did. (I should have known better with Raimi at the helm)

This is one of my top 20 favorite movies, I have been watching Sam for years, he never fails to deliver on true Horror. His Horrror goes beyond and inspired Carpenter. I really believe Carpenter learned from Raimi. He’s our Hitchcock, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. He scares like an expert.

I drove to the movie and ran over a large racoon. Scared the sht out of me. I was highly perturbed, guilty, and adrenaline addled as I sat to watch the movie… when did movies turn into a commercial fest? I haven’t beento a movie ain ayear and I will say it’s because I didn’t feel like it was worth 10$. This movie was honestly worth the value. I nearly arrested several times through the movie. I will admit, the other things wrapped me up and I never saw the button switch coming. The final scene… Allison being consumed is burtnt into my memory. It was the most horrific ending I have ever seen… I will never forget her immolation.

The button switch was rather obvious, but I figured the boyfriend would wind up accidently receiving the curse, kinda like in Thinner.
As my boyfriend said, “what I’ve learned from horror movies is, you don’t mess with gypsies.”
