All this stuff actually is already or really should be on Netflix …
TONIGHT: Final (5th) hour of **The Fall ** Holy smoke!
Gillian Anderson and beardy guy: BBC Two - The Fall, Series 1
Frenchie import from Canal+ The Returned (Les Revenants) - zombie/living dead shit: stirring up a lot of positive reaction after last nights first hour.
Scandie crime drama Arne Dahl on BBC4 is not in the same class as The Bridge, Borgen, etc, never mind The Killing - but some quite like it. Broadchruch finished 3-4 weeks ago now - the dust is finally settling on an outstanding piece of work: Jesus, what acting in this: Broadchurch (TV Series 2013–2017) - IMDb The Villgae was also pretty outstanding, in a bleak, long-way-to-go-like-Heimat kind of way: The Village: the most accomplished new drama of the year so far
And, lest we forget, BBC Drama’s biggest investment of the year The White Queen, begins on Sunday: The White Queen - Media Centre
Any thoughts. Fwiw, I think it’s been a great year so far
Really liking this - non-brain-eating zombies - this is (I think) a remake of a 2004 film of the same name. Soundtrack (Mogwai) is also brilliantly atmospheric.
It’s not on your list but I’m enjoying the hell out of Scott & Bailey (British cop show with three excellent female leads), which is just now making its way to my PBS station on Sunday nights.
Yeah, Scott & Bailey quite good - and follows Doc Martin which we just started watching recently and I was surprised to see we are already up to season four in no time!
I read The White Queen will start on STARZ (which I don’t have) in August here in the USA.
It’s happening, innit. Nice to see the Frenchie’s back on TV form …
Coincidentally, having not seen any of S&B I have crashed through all three series/seasons in the past month. Yep, I like the workplace reverse gender stuff and the brassy northerner character (Bailey), and those interviews … yep, it works; a little variable in quality but you do feel it’s worth sticking with.
Oh, definitely start with Broadchurch - after that, you’ll want to name your children after me.
It was an interesting work. It’s what BBC2 specialises in (the layered/structered adult series drama) and some people absolutely loved it while others were like you. It got very impressive ratings for BBC2 but there was a sense, esp. in the 5th hour that this was acually as much BBC1. Gillian Anderson was impressive though, and Belfast looked pretty good.
And it turned out to be half a series anyway (imo). A slight cheat in a way …
Oh, I’m leaving The White Queen for iPlayer/catchup for a while, quite a lot else to see but I know it has started and it’s building momentum … could be the very big …
I’ll have to bookmark this thread and see what I can find on Netflix Canada here.
My recommendation is always Misfits. I adore this show - so funny, so profane, so entertaining!
Another show we have really liked is Sherlock - I don’t disagree with its 9.2 out of 10 rating at all. It’s very, very good - the chemistry between Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch is phenomenal.
