I saw this movie last week and really enjoyed it. There was a lot of humor, good drama, and the basketball was interesting to watch. I saw the dubbed version, not sure if there is an English subtitled version out. For the most part the dubbing didn’t bother me, there were times when it was kind of off and odd looking, but those were few and far between. They also had replaced all of the Latvian newspapers with English papers.
Honestly, there were only two or three parts that I didn’t fully understand, but those plot points were very minor. I thought the basketball parts were interesting, I don’t know a whole lot about basketball history, but I knew enough about the rule changes that I knew what was going on and saw how much the game has changed. One of the producers after the movie said they studied the games to try and make them historically accurate.
Has anyone else seen this movie yet? I got invited to one of the openings in DC and they said they were going to New York next. I’m not sure what kind of release they will get after that. I think it’s been one of the best movies I’ve seen this year, and would probably satisfy people who enjoy sports movies or dramas.
