I have a dream.
A dream that one day black children and white children will be able to hear me schlepping mobile phone and networking services.
I saw a commercial last night that started out with just the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King giving his dream speech. Then it shows his face, but, curiously, there are no others surrounding him at the Lincoln Memorial. Then the shot pans out and does a “virtual flyby” showing King addressing the area between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The voice over says “To be heard, you need to be connected.” Then the corporate logo, Altcatel.
You have got to be kidding me!! Is nothing sacred these days?? I thought at first that maybe the speech or newsfootage was in the public domain, but in an article by Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun Times today, he said that he called representatives of the King Estate and they sanctioned this commercial.
I am not so much angry (tho’ I am) as I am flabbergasted.
