Dredging up ancient history:Mueller

It’s Dr. Turbo and here’s a one of the proposed voir dire questions in the Tom Barrack case:

  1. This criminal trial may involve individuals and events associated with the Special Counsel Office’s investigation conducted by Robert Mueller. Do you have any strong feelings about the Special Counsel’s Office or its investigation that would prevent you from being fair and impartial in a case involving individuals associated with that entity?

Dear Doctor:Your quote is a clear indication that someone in DoJ has heard of Mueller, but no reassurance that they are using it.

BTW- waving a doctorate around in a shaky response invites observations about appeals to false authority. You remember that from informal logic, right? Remember Miss Manners’ quote about doctorates and noses…

Not true. I’ve been a part of the construction of juror questionnaires many times. They are painstakingly crafted.

If the question is in there, there’s a high likelihood evidence will be presented concerning it.

False. The Jan 6th committee is not a prosecuting body, they’re not building a case, they won’t be holding any trials or making any arrests. Their job is political oversight, not criminal prosecution. There’s no trial at the end of this, except in the court of public opinion. They have more margin for error, and they can start at the top or middle or wherever they want. The DOJ does not have that luxury.

But notice that even the J6 committee didn’t start with Trump. First they worked his allies and underlings to frame later testimony and didn’t even get to Trump himself until 2-3 weeks in.

People need to understand that in criminal proceedings, it simply just doesn’t hack it to say “this is real important so let’s go real fast.” If the defendant’s legal team raises a defense that is lame, but the prosecution didn’t bother preparing a response, then that could sink the entire prosecution.

Of course they do.

So, all you care about is Trump being charged, and don’t care if he’s acquitted?

Exenteration is a surgical procedure referring to removal of a number of (usually pelvic) organs together in a single block; for instance, a total pelvic exenteration means taking out the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, ovaries, urinary bladder, and sigmoid colon all together (usually because of locally advanced cancer).

So…not a fun word… Ignorance fought today.

For a minute, I thought we were playing an online version of Balderdash.

But agreed – ignorance fought today. Thanks, @Pazu.

Well then I for one would welcome any move by the justice department that would lead to Trump’s total Exenteration.
