Recently came across an update from last summer. Because of the concerns raised about the investigation, the local police asked that the Toronto Police Service review the investigation.

The Toronto Police Service found no errors in the investigation:

This spring, the TPS were asked to confirm the findings of SSP’s investigation into the death of teen cyclist Brandon Majewski on Oct. 28, 2012 along Innisfil Beach Road.

Toronto Police found the South Simcoe Police investigation to be thorough and complete.

The Toronto review is the third independent review in connection with the collision investigation - the Independent Police Review Director and the Provincial Prosecutors Office also reviewed the files with no charges laid.

South Simcoe Police Chief Rick Beazley called for the outside review after several comments online and in the community that questioned the police work done by his officers.

As the article mentions, there have now been three independent reviews: by the Toronto Police Service, by the Independent Police Review Officer, and by the Provincial Prosecutors Office.

The family of the boy who was killed were not satisfied by the Toronto Police review:

The family of a teen who was struck dead on his bike by a cop’s wife says they are “extremely disappointed” with a review of the police investigation into the boy’s death.

“Our questions and concerns were not answered,” Larry Hurd, a spokesperson for the family of Brandon Majewski, said on Monday. “The review was not comprehensive but rather circumscribed, limited, narrow, restricted or incomplete. Any or all of these words apply.”

Haven’t found any news about developments in relation to the civil actions.
