Drivers who ought to be shot.

People who pull out right in front of you.

Yeah, if the roads full of cars and you gotta get in one way or another, I’ll understand if I’m your victim.

But when you make me slam on the brakes or change lanes when you could see that there was nobody behind me for half a mile…but you couldn’t be bothered to wait 2 fucking seconds for me to pass by first…well fuck you.

These people should have their gas-pedal foot smashed with sledgehammers.

I’m willing to cut these folks a bit of a break, since they have probably had people who are merging do the same to them. But it is a bit of a dance sometimes, isn’t it?

Merging into a highway is how we learn to use foul language properly. I mean, you learn it when you are young, but it takes driving to really teach you to use it meaningfully.

Ah, I hadn’t thought of that. Good point.

But I still maintain that the majority of drivers don’t adjust their mirrors correctly, i.e., to avoid blind spots.

My other favorites are the drivers who will attempt to break land speed records to merge or pull out in front of you from a stop sign and them once in front of you drive 10-15 miles under the speed limit. So you just had to get in front of me at all costs, you were in such a rush but now you have no sense of urgency and are going to drive like granny for the next 30 miles and of course you’ll be going the exact same way I’m going for the rest of the 99% of my drive because life always works like that.

Then you also have the people in the fast lane/passing lane on the interstate who drive 5-10 miles under the speed limit or drive exactly the speed limit but don’t keep up with the pace of traffic and have 20 angry cars behind you, just get the fuck over, what are you trying to prove that you’re fucking retarded. This also leads to traffic in both lanes getting all sorts of fucked up because of one asshole that is apparently more important and righteous than every other person on the road.

Yeah. I’m generally on the lookout for folk merging. If possible, I’ll move over to the left to clear the right lane for them. If that’s not possible and I’m slightly ahead of them, I’ll speed up a little to give them a clear slot behind. Or if it is looking tight, I’ll slow down to let them move in ahead of me. Too often when I do, the merger slows down as well. That really screws things up, because I’ve given up the momentum I could have used to get ahead of them.

Sure, there are exceptions. But generally the merger should be increasing their speed, not slowing.

This is a bit of an issue for me because I’ve got a couple of interchanges like this right by my house, which I pass/use most every day. I experience it as the merger, thru traffic, and potential exiter. You clearly see the other guy there. Making the merge easier could not possibly save you more than a second or 2 in the best of circumstances.
