Pretty cool to make such a public statement, and have the CM’s permission to do so. It must also be… interesting for his passengers at times, given typical city traffic.
He said he modified the gears in the transmission to work backwards. I built a couple of demo derby cars we liked the cars to go faster in reverse. All we did was flip the rear end over. A few other things like moving brake bias from front to rear and putting the seat in at an angle make the cars easy to drive. Doing 30 to 40 mph in reverse is definitely different.
