Dropped off my eldest child at kindergarten today

Since we’re talking about kindergarten here any tips on selecting one?
Junior will start next fall and we have a handful of them around here to choose from. Most are your basic public elementary schools but there is also an engineering magnet school and an arts magnet school (engineering for kindergartners??).
The only stuff I can find on-line are teacher/kid ratios (which range from 1:14 - 1:19), race distributions, and % of kids eligible for free lunch (low income families).
I can tour any/all of them but really have no idea what to look for or what to ask.

Get whatever information you can about them, then pick your two or three favorites and tour them. Go with the one that “feels best”.

Highly subjective and terribly unscientific, but it’s as good a method as any other, and probably better than most.

For my daughter, who is the older kid, I researched on greatschools.org, toured 5 schools, then I chose the kindergarten with the school and teacher where I would want to spend my day.

For my son, just starting this year, he’s just going where his sister already goes, no tours or choosing involved.
