So far, the Muslim thing seems to a soundbite from a co-worker. It’s all over the local news Facebook feeds, tho. KFOR, KOCO, KWTV are some of the local TV stations. Too much bother to link to the Facebook stuff from my tablet, but they should be easy enough to find.
Coming from the guy that begged for money from members here in order keep his bunnies air-conditioned (so he wouldn’t have to dip into his own savings to help them).

If you think converting to Islam is more likely to drive a person to violence than drugs, then you either have encountered the wrong brand of Islam or the right kind of drugs.

Both are true.
Beheadings seem to be far more “in” with a certain brand of Islam than they are with any kind of drugs. On top of this, recent converts to anything (not necessarily religion) often show a particularly large amount of zeal.

There was another workplace shooting earlier this week in Alabama, by a white Christian man who killed two women but didn’t behead anyone. No mention whatsoever was made of his religion.
Heck, that crazy Canadian white guy from years back who beheaded a Greyhound passenger was only profiled as a crazy white guy, not a religious freak. And on and on it goes, this media thing of ours…
I’m with Bozuit in that beheading seems to be “in” these days, because it’s shocking and disturbing and very strong way to get people’s attention. That’s why ISIS does it, and that’s why some crazy nutjob people do it. But just because they do the same things doesn’t mean there should be any correlation drawn between those two groups of people, except that they’re both major assholes.

When I read the initial reports, I was more concerned at the potential response from the “gun rights” people. I figured the guy was just a run-of-the-mill aggressive nut rather than a religious extremist.
