Dual monitor color question

I’ve had this new computer (Dell Dimension 8300 - WinXP) for a few months now and I have just discovered it has an S Video output (NVIDIA GeForce 5200FX video card).

I figured out how to use the dual monitor setup. My TV does not have an S Video jack, but my DVD recorder does. I ran the cable to the recorder to use the TV as a secondary monitor, but the colors are not right.

For the second display, I have the resolution set at 800x600. I have tried changing the color setting from Medium - 16bit to Highest - 32bit, but it looks the same.

How can I fix this?

Have you tried fiddling with the colors in the “Video” menu of your television? I’d guess the problem is with the TV’s end, not the computer.

In a moment of total duhness, I went to the Dell site and found out how to fix the color. I had to go into the GeForce 5200FX tab in the display settings and select S-video out.

Now it looks a lot better.
