Dual Sim Query

I am replacing my ancient phone and the one I want says it requires:

Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)

Does this mean that I have to have a special SIM or can I use my old one?

IDK but it sounds like it may be like the iPhone when it uses the word hybrid. One conventional sim, one e-sim, use either or both. I have used the e-sim for Google Fi while traveling, and everything was signed up and loaded remotely. The phone allows you to pick a primary for calling, text and data IIRC, and you can mix and match and turn one set off. It even has the option to have the secondary assist if the signal for the primary is not good.

Not iPhone. It’s a refurbished Samsung Note 9 and I looked up what the dual feature meant and I don’t need extra memory or a second number.

If you don’t need a second SIM card, then just forget about it and just use the slot for SIM card 1. What you need to know is the size of the SIM card you’re currently using. There are different sizes, as explained here:

The smallest format is nano, and if you’ve used that before, all will be well. In case not, there are two possibilities: newer SIM cards are adaptable with a perforated frame for each size, so if your card is of a bigger size, you can break out the nano size out of the plastic frame and get the right format for your new phone. If that’s not possible, you have to order a new card at your service provider (you have to give them your contract details so that you get a substitute card for your existing number).

ETA: there’s a third option, but I wouldn’t recommend it: you can download forms to print out and stick on the SIM card to cut out the wanted size, but that’s risky and can lead to failure. I’ve done it once when switching from standard to micro and it worked, but I said three our fathers and two hail marys before testing it…

Thank you, that’s exactly what I wanted to know. Actually, I will have a new card and transfer the number, so size (as the actress said to the bishop) is not a problem.

I used to carry two phones, my work and my personal cell. Once Apple came out with the dual sim feature on the iPhone, I combined the two phones into one. It’s great and convenient.
