World-eater, I’m sorry. I withdraw the lawyer crack.
No problem, back to the OP now.
And another thing:
What’s with all the wuss coffee drinkers of the world. BLACK OR NOTHIN’ BITCHES.
Take it like a man.
I drink tea. how much of a pansy am I?
It starts becoming my business when he puts his cooties all over my liquid bovine container.
jarbabyj, how else am I going to get any calcium in my diet?
I would, but black coffee tastes like a barrel of ass.
But it’s nice and warm and has lots of caffeine and I can’t help myself…gimme my sugar and creamer. And to further wussify my already-emasculated self, gimme my rich, tasty FRENCH VANILLA creamer.
Your ground-beef smoothie?
Personally, I think if he didn’t like people’s reaction to what he did, he shouldn’t have done it. In this case, it’s pretty simple, no?
Got Misdemeanor?
Dear Monty’s professors and classmates: I apologize for Monty’s behavior… (insert smirky smiley here)
essvee: Drop dead.
alice: Of course we do! Gotta keep those cows happy, you know.
On a serious note: The reason that little stunt can get one expelled is because it is shoplifting. The item is sold for purchase. He consumed part of it with no intention of paying for his purchase. And regardless of what World Eater thinks, stealing is stealing, although the theft of a buck is not as serious as the theft of a cool million. There’s also the health considerations. Mom didn’t just yell at my brothers and me for doing that because it made her feel good to yell at us. (Well, maybe that was just another added benefit.) At any rate, the shop employee must follow the procedures the shop management has established or risk losing her job for failure to follow those procedures.
spooje: Yep; I’m majoring in Linguistics in this farm burg. Go figure.
WHOOPS! Left off a smilie! Sorry about that one, essvee.

BTW, by “doing that” I was referring to my brothers and me taking a sip out of the milk carton at home and returning the carton to the fridge…NOT to us shoplifting (since we didn’t shoplift)!
I drink both, does that make me a caffeine addict?
Regarding the law student, this might very well cause him some problems. After he graduates, he will have to be approved by the Character and Fitness committee. He will have to disclose this to the Character and Fitness committee. It may not caue him to be be approved, but it will cause him some embarassment.
My stance exactly, in case you cared to ask.
True, World Eater, but principles matter to me. If I had seen him do that, it would have made me instantly lose trust in him, because he plainly thought he could get away with what was a fundamentally dishonest act without getting caught. The casualness with which he did it (or with which I’m imagining he did it) would probably tell me that he would not hesitate to be dishonest in other situations.
If you cut ethical corners, don’t be surprised if it comes back to haunt you. I’m not saying the guy should be expelled or should not be given another chance, but lost trust is hard to regain, and he should have to earn it.
And go easy on Diogenes, folks. Go take a look at the “Son of Sam” thread. He makes a great deal of sense there, and I’m starting to think the pile-on in the “Warmongers” thread, justified as it was in the beginning, is getting just a bit waspish and stupid. He’s even backing down from his previously, ah, inadvised statements. Give a guy a break for a lapse of temper.
All good points Ogre.
Hey, thanks Ogre.
I should learn not to post in anger.
They told me it was strawberry!
Good point. I’ll ask everyone around to just schluff it off.
But, when I go into my favorite little coffee shop and grab the usually opened container, pour some milk into my mug, and then contract either some hantavirus or influenza, remind me to knock on your door and sneeze on you.
Tripler
Yeah, uptight, but I thank everyone else for it.
