DUI motorist plows car into crowd during Oklahoma State University homecoming parade.

:frowning: three people were killed and 22 were injured

Oklahoma has the death penalty. I think this case may apply. It seems considerable speed had to be involved. That police motorcycle is totally crumpled and they said bodies were flying through the air. We’ll find out in a few days after the investigation is completed. There’s no excuse for a DUI. Three dead and all those wounded at a homecoming parade thanks to one worthless drunk.

police rep gives update on the incident. they gave the same causality count as I quoted earlier. Several emergency responders were in the parade and were able to immediately render aid.

People should have to be licensed to drive and cars should be registered and it should be against the law to drive drunk.

Roll your eyes all you like. We will enact these laws without you and incidents like this will never happen again. We don’t need you.

Homecoming was always one of my happiest memories in high school and college. We looked forward to it the entire season. We always had a parade, the game and school dance afterward. Great high school memories.

I feel so terrible for the OSU students, the university and community. OSU has seen tragedy before in 2001. Okies are tough and resilient people. They’ll get through this latest tragedy.

IANAL and have never been to Oklahoma but I don’t think it would apply.

You mean that aceplace57 might have made an incorrect analysis in the midst of his hand-wringing? Well, at least it won’t be any different from most of his other threads.

I said , “I think it may apply” I don’t know. IANAL I’m sure the prosecutor will seek the maximum penalty possible.

Can we show some respect for this tragedy? 3 dead and 34 wounded is a pretty darn big event.

Updated to 34 injured, 8 critically.

I agree with you; however, homicide/DUI gets a slap on the wrist compared to other levels of murder/manslaughter.

If you want to kill people and get clean away with it, in America, the motor vehicle is the ideal weapon. George R. Weller killed ten people, maimed dozens more, and never spent a night behind bars.

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Adacia Chambers. Witness estimated she was going 45 to 50 mph.

Quite a big event. Much bigger than the homecoming parades that I attended.

We should kill her with the death penalty. That way, everything evens out. You know, justice.

Can you cite any, any, any case in the United States which a DUI has resulted in the death penalty? Anywhere, anytime, anyhow?

I have no idea. She deserves the maximum penalty allowed under law, OK enforces the death penalty. Whether it applies is up to the prosecutor. If it doesn’t than hopefully she’ll rot in prison for the rest of her life. I don’t care either way. Just as long as this drunk is held accountable. 10:30 in the morning and she’s already drunk. That tell you anything?

Cars are 3,000 lb machines every bit as lethal as any other weapon. Anyone that drives legally impaired and kills someone deserves the maximum sentence under the law.

from the wiki linked earlier

Obviously.

I mostly agree, but I would make an exception for extraordinary circumstances. If you’re drinking and you get bitten by a snake, for example, I’m not going to blame you for panicking and trying to drive yourself to a hospital.

updated report. The 4th victim was 2 years old. :frowning:

I pray the count doesn’t go higher. 8 were listed as critical earlier today. That leaves 7 that are fighting for their lives.

The mother of one little girl has been posting updates on Facebook.

In what way do these posts demonstrate that the law calls for the death penalty?
