DUI motorist plows car into crowd during Oklahoma State University homecoming parade.

Thanks, looks like I wrong about that then. I appreciate the information.

jimbuff314 are you familiar with Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers (where the suspect worked). Is that pretty close to the site? They are reporting she was fired earlier that morning and I wondered how far it was away.

I see an IHop sign in the background of the accident scene.

Never mind. I found the place on google map. It’s just down the street. Looks like Main turns into N Boomer just past the curve. She was just minutes away.

I’m a bit uncertain about this site. Anyone know if News - Heavy.com is legit?
They claim to have an interview with a coworker. This “may” be the source the other news sources are using in their reports that the suspect was fired that morning.

I’m a bit skeptical but judge for yourself about this article and the anonymous coworker.

update New charges and victims identified.

Its been a full day 1/2 and thankfully no further deaths. Hopefully the more seriously injured will pull through.

Why, exactly?

So people know how the story evolves. It’s rude to just start a thread and leave it hanging. Like buying a book with the last thirty pages torn out.

You know, if people can read or post here, they can also get to the websites of Google News, CNN, NBC, the Oklahoma newspapers or any of a thousand other actual news sources. So I don’t see the point of starting and maintaining threads to update people here on breaking news stories.

Give it up, folks. Our friend aceplace57 is a Google Alert in human form.

He’s started over 1,000 threads in the past three years, averaging better than a thread a day, and a significant number of them are little more than recreational outrage or hand-wringing over whatever the latest scandalous news story happens to be.

The last link I posted answered the biggest issue that came up in this thread. Potential punishment. She’s facing up to 10 years for each death. More than enough to keep her off the streets for most of the remainder of her life. I felt it was worth noting.

Major updates to news stories can often spark fresh discussion. Thats the point of posting them. Its no different than real life. I mentioned the parade crash to friends yesterday. We talked about it again this morning at church. We’ll probably discuss it tomorrow at work. Its a local story to us. We have friends and family in Oklahoma. We care deeply about these people and what they are going through.

I agree this thread has run its course. Unless something really startling develops and I don’t expect that it will.

Did the subject of capital punishment come up at church? Did anyone throw up a hand and say, WWJD? Did anyone at church forgive the driver? How’d that go at church?

Nothing any different than any other tragedy. Our pastor lead a short prayer for the victims and their families. I talked with groups of friends in the parking lot before and after services. Nothing out of the ordinary. Concern for the people recovering and how the families are coping.

The same type of conversation often seen here after tragedies.

So what? He’s as entitled as anyone else to post about things he’s interested in or thinks others might be interested in, and given that he always gets responses it’s obvious the things he posts are of interest to others. I’d suggest that if you don’t want to read what he has to say that you simply stop opening his threads. I for one often enjoy reading them and I’d hate to see him cut back because a guy who can rarely go more than three posts without insulting or criticising someone decides to complain about his threads.

I’m sure you can imagine how much i value your input on this issue.

Certainly. About as much as I’d suggest aceplace57 value yours.

As an aside -
What is it with this sort of construction?

She was allegedly drunk, or had allegedly been fired, or was allegedly upset -
But wasn’t she the driver? Isn’t that a factual statement

:dubious: Lawyer she’s she’s crazy. Her boss praises her. Man, talk about diametrically opposing views. Interesting that boss man doesn’t address why she was sent home. The shift had barely started.

And yet there were other reports saying she was supposed to work from 9 to 3 that day but was fired because she seemed to be on drugs. I have no idea what a diabetic episode is like, but since her lawyer threw it out I assume she’s really a diabetic (officers of the court can’t just blatantly lie about such things, can they?). So I’m wondering if her behavior that morning at work was actually due to some sort of diabetic episode, and whether the crash perhaps was also. I notice my earlier link to her Facebook page no longer works as her page has been taken offline, but in almost every one of the few photos on it she appears to be a deeply unhappy person. Despite the carnage I find myself hoping that there’s some sort of explanation that lets her off the hook. From what little is known so far she doesn’t seem to have been a bad person.

I’m sure she’ll be stoked to hear that you vouched for her.
