I’ve just finally upgraded my Samsung s4mini to an s10e. All is good. Fairly seamless.
I would like to give the old s4mini to my cousin. The phone is in perfect shape. Could use a new battery ($10 on Amazon)
My cousin is on T-Mobile. The s-4mini is a Verizon phone. The s4 has been deactivated from Verizon, account has been switched to the my new s10.
Questions -
Would my cousin, or T-Mobile or Verizon store be able to insert a new sim card in the s4mini and keep her existing phone number from T-Mobile account on the s4?
I’m guessing that all contacts info from her flip phone will be lost, there is really no way to know if that can be transferred with out more info on brand and such. It is an Android though. I have know idea if the phone is being backed up.
I believe Verizon uses CDMA but T-Mobile uses GSM as transmission mediums. The formats are not compatible so unless your S4 has both bands, I don’t think it will work.
Someone more fsmiliar should bevalong to confirm or deny
Probably. Verizon phones are generally three-band phones and should also work on T-Mobile’s GSM network. T-Mobile could tell you for sure.
Since the flip phone has a SIM card, often there is a feature to download the contact list onto the SIM card. Even if there is not, T-Mobile may be able to do the transfer for you phone-to-phone.
