DVD player problem

I’m trying to play a legit DVD on my computer – one that I’ve played before successfully. It works fine for 45 minutes (approximate), then jumps to some post production splash screen. I’ve tried going through the main menu to select an individual scene to no avail. It is as if the last half of the disc was erased. It’s a US disc, so the country code can’t be an issue, and I tried downloading the newest version, also to now avail. Why isn’t this working?

Do other DVD’s work fine? One-sided two-layered discs often pause the movie for a moment when changing the layer. Maybe your player is unable to read the second layer for some reason.

I have had this problem on occasion…do you use Intervideo WinDVD software? I think they might have some sort of memory-management bug which kicks in when you get a certain distance into the movie (but not consistently…I’m not sure just what exact factors are involved).

I’ve played this specific disc without incident on this computer before. I’m using ATI’s DVD player (I also tried the regular Win2k one; it wouldn’t even play the disc).
