I have the DVD “300” and for some reason it will only play in mono on my TV. On my PC it’s in colour.
I’ve changed channels on the TV and still no luck.
Any ideas?

Is it PAL format, or NTSC? If it’s NTSC and part or all of your equipment can’t cope with that, it could result in loss of colour, but I would expect other things also to be wrong in that case, such as jumpy or distorted picture and audio distortion.
It’s PAL format and apart from loss of colour all else is OK.
I should say that I got the DVD from a friend and on the disc itself is printed “NOT FOR RENTAL”
Check that your scart leads are plugged in correctly. Sometimes a loose one gives a black and white picture.
Other DVDs play OK on the TV? (asking in case there’s just a random fault that commenced coincidentally with you trying to watch this DVD)
Wait a moment. It’s not a legitimate version, is it? Amazon.co.uk lists the UK DVD release date of 300 as September 17, 2007.
:smack: :smack: But why colour on my PC and not TV?
No probs with other DVDs
Kal Scarts are OK
Does the TV have another SCART input you could try? Sounds like you are using composite SCART. You could try RGB instead, if your TV has it.
Dunno - given that it’s a bootleg, there could be something wrong with the compression, or it could be that the streams are actually in NTSC format, or have been converted from NTSC to PAL in some sort of half-assed way that a domestic DVD player finds less tolerable than a software one.
There isn’t too much variety in the colour in “300” anyway. It’s all kind of monotone, really.
Well I dunno what happened but I can now play it in colour on my TV.
Aint technology a wunnerful thing?
