DVD region codes

Well, OK, if you’re going by $ signs, the USA is at the top I guess…

You’re right, MaxT. I guess what I need to buy, then, is a multi-region NTSC/PAL DVD player. Know where I can find one?
(My parents in Switzerland have an NTSC/PAL VCR that they bought in the USA in an Indian shop. India also uses PAL.)

The link I posted earlier has a link to hardware retailers, but what the heck, here’s the direct link: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/s.roberts/hardware.htm

Visit some of the retailers on those sites and find a player that works for you. Note that they will be higher priced than plain old one-region DVD players. Example: a Sony DVP-S725D multi-region with NTSC and PAL is listed on different sites at a price ranging from 530-750 UK pounds. There are also kit dealers, but unless you’re VERY confident in your soldering skills, I’d buy the caboodle and kit together, pre-assembled.

Happy shopping.

As a total aside I’d just like to say that La Vita è bella (Life Is Beautiful) is an awesome movie.

MaxTorque, thanks a million for that link you provided!

At The Laser Exchange, they list a multi-code, PAL/NTSC DVD player, for $249, the APEX AD 600-A. Very tempting. The machine even allows you to do karaoke!

I might have to take the plunge. Does anyone have an expert opinion on this incredible offer?
