So all these new DVD writers are out and I’m thinking about buying one. My question is how fast is a 2.4x DVD writer? I know that in the CD world that the base speed is 150kB/s and the speeds are just multiplied by that. Do DVD’s have the same speed or is their base speed faster? If its really only 150kB/s I’d have to imagine it taking a long time to burn 4.7 GB. Anyone care to enlighten me on all this?? Thanks in advance!
Sure, when you buy a drive it says the transfer rate on the box or the manf web site. It’s faster than cd, someone said about 9x but Im not sure, plus there is a lot more data to write. So find your dirve at amazon.com or buy.com & read the detailed specs
dvd+rw is a format & its expensive. A Cheaper format is dvd-r ,cheaper in that you can use the cheaper -r disks
