Bring back that sunny day!
I was thinking “Game of Thrones” shout-out.
They didn’t name him “Dylan,” they named him “Dylann,” which adds the element of moronic people who can’t spell and give their kid a yooneek name.
Which, apropos of nothing important, reminds me of a NatLamp comic piece about where Robert Zimmerman got his stage name - from some dumbster asking a librarian for books by this “Dial-Ann Thomas” guy.
Juxtaposition, I guess. Which leads me to memories of their Juxaposition Comics, but it’s time to move on.
He was named after SC’s long-serving senator, Strom Thurmond, but there was a misspelling on the birth certificate. Just kidding!
If that isn’t true, it should be.![]()
Well, “Strom” is also a middle name, so maybe you have something there. ![]()
(He, his son and his grandson are all “James Strom Thurmond.”)
You haven’t explained how the name “Storm” clearly has Nazi connotations? ![]()
Whose (the poet’s) name was pronounced “Dull-ann” in his native land, anyway: “Dill-ann” is an English spelling pronunciation, though such a common one that it’s just the English version of the name (i.e. Dylan “Dill-ann” is English for Dylan “Dull-ann” like “Carlos” is Spanish for “Carl”). Cite.
(Edit: not that anyone cares, but take the etymology of the name on that site with a grain or two of salt. It’s not necessarily wrong, but it’s speculative.)
Just google Nazi Storm. You’ll get Stormtroopers and various other things I don’t want to link to.
“Nazi Storm” has Nazi connotations.
Googling “Storm” locates links to weather and Marvel Comics.
Are you saying his parents give their son the middle name of Storm 21 years ago because they were, or favored, Nazis? Or are you implying that someone with the middle name of Storm had no choice but to become a Nazi sympathizer?
I’m asking whether a) his parents are Nazis, or b) he gave himself the middle name Storm because he’s a Nazi, or c) his parents are not Nazis.
Dylann apologist, or what?
It appears that this monster’s given middle name, at birth 20+ yrs ago, was Storm. Why? I have no idea. Maybe we could ask Dweezil Zappa, Kal-El Cage, or Apple Paltrow (or is it Apple Martin)?
There doesn’t appear to be any 20+ yrs old reports that this monster’s parents were Nazis, or Nazi sympathizers.
Why would you apologize for the mentally defective monster who somehow managed to justify the murder of nine innocent people? Shame on you.
You seemed awfully defensive about speculation on the meaning of the dude’s middle name.
I know a kid at work whose name is Storm. Asked why his parents named him that and he said his father just liked the name. No other reason given.
I knew a woman in Quebec whose name was Marie Soleil. She told me her parents were hippies in the sixties. She has blonde hair and a sunny disposition. But I wouldn’t call her a hippie.
I was discussing the monster’s middle name. You’re the one who promoted being an apologist. Shame on you.
Okay, who else is pointing a finger to their head and cocking the thumb?
I think it was a good question, given that “Storm” does have connotations to the racist/white supremacy/aryan bullshit world. It was worth asking. It seems to have been answered (in the negative). Is it really worth ever-extending argument about “the meaning of is”?
