E-cig (electronic cigarette) opinions, experiences, recommendations

I guess a pretty good rule of thumb would be, don’t inhale foreign substances into your lungs, pretty much no matter what.

Since someone else resurrected the thread, I’ll just say that these are now available at Costco as well.

hmmm…well, you might want to rethink that ‘no matter what’ qualifier, otherwise I’m afraid you’re going to have to quit breathing entirely. Which, as another rule of thumb is not considered advisable either.

But I have a dream…and someday I’m going to move to that place where the air is clean, the water pure, the crops are all organic, the cattle are grass fed and chickens are free range…and out of range of course of any of mother nature’s pesky little surprises like volcanoes, earthquakes, floods and poisonous mushrooms.

I have a dream that perhaps someday, I’ll be free of all my bad habits. I’ll never smoke anything, or drink alcohol (except maybe occasionally some red wine in healthy moderation), or overeat or undereat, or overexercise or underexercise, or take any medications unless properly prescribed by a competent physician. And I certainly won’t engage in any potentially lethal activities just because of the sheer physical or mental or emotional pleasure it provides (like skydiving or rock climbing or bungee jumping or biking or driving or sex or…well, you get the picture). Because that would be just reckless and irresponsible.

Or, perhaps not. Perhaps that day won’t come. In the meantime, I guess I’ll just try to minimize the potential damage inherent in the risks that I do take and the selfish pleasures that I do indulge. That’s a good rule of thumb, too.

 “Foreign” being not the stuff our lungs were designed to inhale.

Breathing

Nitpick: our lungs weren’t designed.

Other than that, I agree.

Again: . This is just dumb.

#1 You know what I mean (just like Lilyofthefield did)
#2 Yes, they were in fact designed, unless you think they sprung fully formed into existence by magic

That nitpickery was annoying as fuck wasn’t it?

#1. Yes, Of course I do.

#2. No, I don’t, and I reject the false dilemma. Lungs evolved over time from earlier gas-exchanging structures.

Sheesh, I’m agreeing with you that putting nicotine into your lungs for recreational purposes is unwise, what do you want?

I’d love a million dollars and a board that somewhat approximates real-life communication, where people know what you mean through context and don’t nitpick literally every little word choice. You can’t say shit around here without having to argue about something else. It’s ridiculous, and tiring.

Of course. I’m familiar with the word. I was merely pointing out that this is largely unavoidable as long as you’re going to continue to inhale.

But that is not the real point. The real point is that everybody takes risks everyday that are not necessarily as unavoidable as air pollution. And we all pretty much do things that we would be wiser to avoid doing. And that other people may judge us as being crazy or stupid or reckless for doing. We do it because we have decided the reward is worth the risk.

I smoke e-cigs. Because I like to, and I have assessed the risk as being acceptable. To me. But, you are not going to catch me jumping out of any airplanes anytime soon - I’m not that crazy! :stuck_out_tongue:

I know, right? It does get old.
