Does anyone know what FAA and TSA rules are regarding e-cigarettes on domestic flights are?
Last time I flew, I noticed that the terms and conditions prohibited e-cigs. Don’t know if that was FAA rules or just the airline (Continental). It is possible to vape an e-cig without anyone noticing. It will not, for example, set off the smoke alarm in the bathroom. Not that I’m suggesting you should break the rules, of course. That would be a bad thing. Possible, but not advised.
I was wondering why they were prohibited, since there is zero possibility they could start a fire, and there is no second-hand harmful stuff. My guess is that they don’t want to have to keep checking whether that thing is a real cig or an e-cig.
I would guess that if there is the slightest possibility of someone else complaining about something, even if in practice it dosent effect anyone else (“I don’t want my kids to see that”) the airlines will find it easier to just prohibit it outright.
“Nip it—Nip it in the bud”
The TSA blog says that you can pack them in checked or carry-on luggage but use is up to the airline.
Thanks everyone
