e-cigarettes

I have a kGo 1100 in the same purple color. It’s not vv, but it definitely does the job. However, I tried clearomizers and hate them, although I love the concept. The tanks leak, or the wicks wick poorly, or the seals are finicky and you can’t get a good draw, they only last 5-7 days tops… way too high-maintenance. I’m still using these cartomizers after 6 months (1.5ohm, black XL). I get 2-3 weeks out of one before it starts tasting icky. Plus, they’re cheap!

I never could get the cartos to work for me. I have that same kGo (but not purple) and I got boge LR cartos. Either I was doing something wrong or the entire pack of cartos were duds. Either way, I only use the clearos. I just wash them every few weeks. Some do leak and they are more expensive than cartos but, well, both have their downsides.

As long as I stick with *Vision *Vivi Nova Mini’s (clearomizers), I haven’t had a leaking issue. Off-brands, including ones that come in a knock off black box looking very much like Vision’s (but lacking the red graphic) do leak, the little bastards. I take the Vision Vivi Nova Mini apart and rinse the pieces every couple of days and they’ve (I’ve got 3 I rotate through) been in use for months now. I think I’ve gone through three replacement atomizers, and that was mostly because I didn’t know (and still am not sure) how to know when to replace the atomizer. Do I replace it if it stops working? If it looks dark and gross at the wires? When the moon is full?

The clearomizer I got with the eGo kit is a bitch and a half to clean, though, as it doesn’t come apart like the Vision Vivi Nova Mini. Only the top unscrews for filling. I think it’s designed to be disposable, as it’s priced at $3-4 for the whole tank, including atomizer and drip tip.

Anyone here happen to live in NYC? Got a friend asking where she can get a tank style setup, but she wants a brick and mortar store, not an internet site. Her ZIP is 11106; I’ll check a couple of ecig fora, but thought I’d throw it out here, as well.

I read this thread a couple weeks ago, then I ordered a starter kit from a spam e-mail that showed up in my junk folder. It arrived on Saturday. I tried it out and did not like it a bit. In my mouth and throat it felt like I was hitting a bong, but that was all. I’d rather suck on an unlit cigarette than use that thing.

A bit about my smoking habits: On my days off I smoke after I eat (about every 3 hours) and when I’m drinking. I never smoke in my house or while I’m doing something. You’ll never see me working with a cigarette hanging from my mouth. Smoking is an event, a break.
When I’m working as a pizza delivery driver I’ll often smoke on the way back from nearly every delivery, at least once an hour. When I’m teaching I’ll smoke on the way to school (after breakfast) and then go 8 hours without any problems. I’ll smoke on the way home after school, but not really because I’m “jonesing”, but more because I feel like I’m due (ie. I feel like I’m owed at least one from not smoking after lunch. Maybe this will make sense to smokers). So I feel like it’s more of a habit than an addiction.

Do y’all have any comments, suggestions, or recommendations?

ETA: While quitting smoking would be a nice thing for all of the obvious reasons, it’s not something that I’m actively persuing.

If anyone wants an alternative to the propylene glycol that is generally used, intellicig-usa (just intellicig elsewhere) uses vegetable glycerol instead. For people who don’t trust ingredients, here’s what they claim about theirs - from the UK parent site.

I would recommend something like this as a starter kit. (Note that link is for a complete example of a good battery and tank combo, but you may find a better deal at any number of other websites or stores). Then add a quality e-liquid, perhaps like something recommended above, though you can definitely get VG based juices at almost every vape shop. Some actually prefer a PG based liquid because it tends to produce a big cloud of vapor where pure VG based juice tends to be kind of wispy. Many compromise for a mix of about 80% VG and 20% PG. You might try some sample packs with several different flavors to choose from. Many start out absolutely sure they only want a juice that tastes like tobacco but wind up trying various other flavors and liking them.

I hate it that after a good 20 minute cigar.

I grab a cigarette.

I’m like WTF.

To me Vaping is something different than smoking.

I have a couple of em around to try to get used to it.

I’d rather have a few smokes a day and vape in between, than straight smoke all day long.

I don’t like break time = forced smoke time…I want one when i want one, the clock on the wall isn’t the dictator of that.
