I was once told a story about a man who is collecting royalty checks from the motion picture “ET” even though he was in no way involved in the production of it. As the story went, he was somehow casually aquainted with Steven Spielberg long before the film was made and was contracted to direct a film which Spielberg was to produce. The film was loosely based on an alien and was not made until some years later as “ET”. However, according to this mans contract, he had a clause that regardless if he directed or not, he still had rights to a certain amount of compensation, i.e. points. Any truth to this? I wish I could remember more and I could also be way off base.
Thank you,
Jeff Pollack
