I think this is an excellent analysis, and one I was thinking of as I read beyond my post, but couldn’t manage to phrase coherently.
Anyone else make the parenting choice of reading the originals to your young kids? Somehow or another we ended up w/ a “complete volume” and I decided that would be good bedtime reading for the 3 pre-middle school kids. It was only a couple of stories before someone was sealed in a barrel with spikes driven into it and bounced down a hill into a river. Certainly got the kids’ attention!
