I remember back in the early 90’s there were toys which were essentially glorified dominoes. They were made especially for lining up, and came with all sorts of cool gadgets and such to help out. Does anybody remember the name of these, and if they’re still being made?
It was Domino Rally.
I don’t think they’re being made anymore, but you can find them on ebay.
But you have to admit, the hinges on the tracks helpped imensely. I never did get the automatic domino placer car thing though.
It’s OK, the little car sucked anyway. 
The car worked great for a little while, then it began just dropping the dominos instead of standing them up.
If by “for a little while”, you mean about a tenth of a second. And most of the other gimmicks couldn’t be triggered by the lightweight Domino Rally dominoes, so you had to gradually step up to heavier dominoes (not provided) before one of those in your setup.
The hinged tracks were great, though, as long as you were only using them with other lightweight dominoes.
