Earth rise over lunar horizon

In seventh grade we learned that the same side of the moon is always facing the earth because the lunar rotation speed is the same as its revolution speed. If the same side is always facing the earth, how did they get the footage of the earth rising over the lunar horizon when they landed on the moon?

That footage was taken while the spacecraft was in flight.
