I watched the trailer: big deal. Sure, some of the animals in there were not being treated very well, but we humans are higher on the food chain, and I don’t see the coyotes in my part of the world being very caring about how they kill deer, for example.
I’m still deciding what to BBQ for supper tonight.
What do I think? I think I know perfectly well where my food comes from, I know how the animals are treated, and I’m generally OK with it. I’m not opposed to people who work to get them better conditions, but it’s so far down my list of things to care about that it really doesn’t make it onto my radar.
My irritation arose thusly: you’ve had some sort of epiphany which has changed your life. Good for you. Bravo, and I mean that seriously. But, you’ve fallen into a trap that is all too common with people in your situation: you seem to be assuming that those of us who haven’t changed our lives to match your new standards are lacking only the information that resonated so with you. Hence your witnessing in this thread. You need to realize that although you may find a person or two who will react as you did, most of us adult Americans are already fully aware of the situation and have already come to terms with it in our own ways. Don’t expect us all to be blown away, just because you were.
Wow your parents had to condition you to eat meat? How long did that take? Maybe I’m just one of the lucky few who didn’t need any conditoning to eat, and like by the way, meat.
I agree that preparing our meat type food for consumtion is pretty harsh to see but it doesn’t bother me. I prefer not to see it actually happen but I do want the end product so knowing how it is done doesn’t really bug me.
Puppy-mills or kitty-mills or whatever that actually makes feel sad but there’s nothing I can do about it except not buy one from a mill and I don’t.
